Elaine Sandra Bock
January 22, 1935 – May 17, 2025
Elaine Sandra Bock, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and matriarch of the Bock family, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at 5:13 PM, surrounded by her loving family in Dallas, Texas.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Elaine was the daughter of Leo and Jean Hiken. She graduated from University City High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and discovered many of the passions that would stay with her throughout her life. In 1955, she moved to Dallas after marrying the love of her life, Harry Bock. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Elaine played a meaningful role in helping Harry grow and manage Bachendorf’s, the family’s fine jewelry business. She was deeply invested in the company’s success, bringing her sense of style, unwavering hard work and always supporting Harry and her sons to create and maintain a successful business.
A woman of grace and quiet strength, Elaine’s life was filled with music, love, and deep devotion to family. A talented pianist, she filled her home with music that soothed and delighted all who heard it. She loved attending Dallas Mavericks games, playing mahjongg with dear friends, and enjoying performances at the symphony. Some of her fondest memories were made traveling through Europe with Harry—exploring new places together and cherishing the adventure of shared experiences.
Elaine is survived by her three sons—Lawrence (Katy), Steven (Vicki), and David (Robin)—who carry forward her legacy of kindness, humor, and integrity. She was a devoted grandmother to Aaron (Estah), Rachel (David)Starfield, Fallon, Lance, Ian, and Sophia, and a proud great-grandmother to Miriam and Rina. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—those were her happiest moments.
She is also survived by her sisters Enid (Stanley) Gold, Nancy (Richard) Sunshine, and Carol Astor, and is preceded in death by her sister Harlene Stein. Elaine leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Elaine will be remembered for her generosity, her warmth, her loyalty, and the quiet elegance with which she lived her life. Her presence was a gift, and her absence is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
